I have a Baxter 1550 that has an intermittent heprin pump. When the nurses place the syringe into the clips and try to load it, they press the switch towards "Forward" and nothing appears to happen. I have tried replacing PC10A because I have never actually been around to witness the problem.
Today I did see it though. I pressed the switch "forward" and I could here the motor moving (or trying to move), but the syringe's plunger never moved. I could pull the machine and investigate.....again, but the problem seems to only happen when the machine is in service. (I think, sometimes, Baxter put AI into these machines). It acts like a perfect angel in my shop.
I've been told that these heprin motors very, very rarely fail, but I also heard, last night, that a man in the states was in a plane crash, walked out to get rescuers, who flew him towards the crash site, and they crashed too. Odds of 24,000,000 to 1 they say. So nothing is imposible.
Thanks
Darren McKinnon
